چکیده

This paper presents the GLP-Tool, an interactive tool for graphical linear programming involving two variables. The GLP-Tool is designed to solve user-defined linear programming problems with two variables, up to a didactical limit of five constraints (plus the signal constraints). Implemented using the computer algebra system Mathematica, this interactive tool allows the user to dynamically explore different objective functions and constraint sets, and also perform post-optimal and sensitivity analysis. All the GLP-Tool functionalities are represented graphically and updated in real time. These interactive, dynamic, and graphical features make the GLP-Tool a powerful tool for teaching linear programming both in undergraduate and high school courses. After completing its development, we intend to make the GLP-Tool available at the Wolfram Demonstrations Project website. José C. Pereira and Susana Fernandes

Compendious Lexicographic Method for Multi-objective Optimization

A modification of the standard lexicographic method, used for linear multiobjective optimization problems, is presented. An algorithm for solving these kind of problems is developed, for the cases of two and three unknowns. The algorithm uses the general idea of indicating the lexicographic order to objective functions, combined with the graphical method of linear programming. Implementation de...

Fuzzy multiobjective optimization modeling with Mathematica

In the real situations, decision makers are often faced to a plurality of objectives and constraints in a world of imprecise data about the preferences of agents, the local constraints and the global environment. In a fuzzy environment, fuzzy linear programming (FLP) and fuzzy goal programming (FGP) problems incorporate fuzzy objective functions and constraints, fuzzy parameters and variable se...

Parameterization of Some Surfaces of Revolution Through Curvature-Varying Curves: A Computational Analysis

This paper describes a computational analysis of various parameterizations of a surface of revolution. The idea is to generate the parameterization of the surface by using different (not necessarily planar) curves with varying curvature. The approach to the practical case of obtaining the parameterization of a torus through different planar curves other than circles, such as planar lemniscates....

Two-Dimensional Boundary-Conforming Orthogonal Grids for External and Internal Flows Using Schwarz-Christoffel Transformation

In this paper, a Schwarz-Christoffel method for generating two-dimensional grids for a variety of complex internal and external flow configurations based on the numerical integration procedure of the Schwarz-Christoffel transformation has been developed by using Mathematica, which is a general purpose symbolic-numerical-graphical mathematics software. This method is highly accurate (fifth order...
